Will Mason Mount play for Chelsea vs Crystal Palace

Chelsea's Frank Lampard

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has this afternoon provided a fitness update on his squad, ahead of their meeting with Crystal Palace this weekend.

'Hopefully in three weeks' time we will know more. "We've been trying to find a solution, Toni's been having some issues, it's not easy for a player in that position, so hopefully we are at that case now and in three weeks we're in a better place". "It was nice to get something definitive about it".

Mount and Fikayo Tomori - both of whom played under Lampard at Derby County last season - have seen their fine form rewarded with England call-ups, while Tammy Abraham has proven himself to be among the most prolific marksmen in the league. Azpilicueta should continue at right-back.

The likes of Antonio Rudiger, N'Golo Kante, Emerson Palmieri, Andreas Christensen and Ross Barkley have all been forced to sit out matchups of late, due to fitness concerns.

However, Crystal Palace won't be going to the Bridge just to roll over as Roy Hodgson's side have enjoyed an excellent start to the season so Frank Lampard won't be taking anything for granted tomorrow.

Kante will, thus, replace Jorginho, with Mateo Kovacic being his partner.

Jorginho is suspended for this game while Mason Mount is also an injury doubt thereby leaving Lampard a bit short-handed in the midfield area. Lampard then confirmed that the youngster had made the squad.

"It's a conversation that I will have with Gareth (Southgate) or (England coach) Steve (Holland) with Ross to see how it pans out for him over the next 10 days".

"I am not sure on that one, he won't be in our squad".

'With Mason, he's in the squad.

Palace were not offering much of an attacking threat, but they did seem to have the Chelsea forward line under increasing control, although only a brilliant block from Gary Cahill stopped former team-mate Willian turning the ball in with seconds of the first half left.
